How it works

1. Choose your day by contacting me and secure your spot with a 50% down payment (I will send a link).

2. I send over a questionnaire for you to fill out and a link where you can upload your images. This is the content I’ll use to populate your site (Note: this information will need to be completed at least one week prior to starting your build.)

3. Design day! Sit back, relax, and wait for the magic to unfold. I’ll email you a link once your website is complete.

4. You pay the 50% remaining balance, I hit ‘publish’, transfer the site to you, et voila - your website is live! (Now if only writing actual books was as easy…)

 

What’s Included

  • A professional website with 8 pages: Home, About, Books (a maximum of 2 books are included), Media Kit, Book Club, Press, Events and Contact Form).

  • Basic search engine optimization (SEO).

  • Links to your social media accounts.

  • Fonts and colours to reflect your book/genre/style (we will cover this in the questionnaire).

  • Basic newsletter integration.

  • Responsive design (aka mobile and tablet friendly!)

  • A post-launch document with links to tutorials on how to update and maintain your slick new website. I also include links on how to add different pages should you wish to build your website out a bit more.

 

What’s Not Included

  • A blog. Please inquire about my add-on services if you wish to include these.

  • Additional book pages (this service includes up to 2 books. If you have more and would like them added, there will be an additional fee. Pricing is dependent on scope, please inquire for more information.

  • More than 1 round of changes to fonts and site colours.

  • The cost of yearly hosting and/or your domain (please see Squarespace pricing for the most up to date figures).

  • Custom code.

  • Press/media logo wall.

Who are you? And why should I trust you?

 

Great questions!

My name’s Amita and I’m a traditionally published author. My best-selling debut novel was published by Penguin Random House, HarperCollins and Hachette, translated into multiple languages and shortlisted for a couple of awards. I’m also a trained web designer.

After seeing some of the offerings out there for us writers, I knew I could do better. Most of the options I saw were:

  • Waaaaay too expensive! I am a firm believer that most authors don’t need to spend thousands on a website. Save your advance money!

  • Too image heavy. So many pre-built templates and designers offer packages with loads of images. But we’re authors, not photographers.

  • Required constant updating and managing - again, not something many authors have the time or money for.

I knew I could come up with a better way, and so I did. The Author Website in a Day is for you.

  • I only work on Squarespace websites at this time, so this particular service won’t work unfortunately.

  • Blogs are not included in this package. I will link to a video that walks you through how to add on if you wish. I also offer a blog page as an add-on service, please contact me for pricing.

  • The price of my Author Website in a Day service is $997 + tax (USD).

  • A premium, professionally designed website consisting of 8 pages, customized with the content you provide, fonts and colours to match your book genre, and royalty free stock images.

  • In addition to my fee, you’ll have to pay for Squarespace hosting and a domain name. You can see Squarespace’s most up to date pricing here. By booking through me, you get 20% off your first year subscription with Squarespace.

  • Yes, with limited availability. Custom sites start at $4500 (USD). Please contact me for more information. 

  • At the conclusion of your Author Website in a day, I provide a list of Squarespace tutorials for everything from updating images to copy. If you'd like to learn even more, book me for a Squarespace training session.

  • Absolutely. I made sure to include royalty free stock images related to publishing and writing. Feel free to keep them in. When I deliver your site, I'll also include a link to websites where you can find great free images.

  • This service includes one round of revising the font choices and/or colours. If you want extra updates, you can always purchase an add-on package from me. I will also link you to tutorials that walk you through how to do it yourself.

  • Very rarely, and my custom sites start at $4500 + tax (USD). Please contact me if you are interested.
